Yoga Q&A

Why take yoga classes?

yoga class schedule | davie, hollywood, pembroke pines, weston

Unlike any other form of exercise yoga unifies mind, body and spirit. Most forms of exercise focus only on the physical.

What can yoga do for me?

Yoga can help to raise your level of flexibility, strength, mind control, focus, self awareness and help you to de-stress.

What type of yoga is right for me?

It depends on your level of fitness and health. A beginner practitioneror one with health/fitness issues will be happy in a regular hatha yoga class, and intermediate to advanced students can feel free to hop into any class, but if seeking a challenge go to an advanced hatha class or for a fun twist try a Aerial Fit class and 'hang' (from the cieling) with us.

I have never heard of these styles of yoga where do they come from?

Temple Arts believes that all styles of yoga have their merits. So we hire teachers from all backgrounds and teach them, adjustments, breath work, and much more from all styles of yoga. Our classes form from a Hatha Yoga base. Meaning that we practice from the exercise or posture practice of yoga. There are many other areas to Yoga like Karma Yoga the practice of selfless service. We focus on a mixture of Hatha Yoga principles and disciplines.

Monday 9am- Restorative Yoga
Restorative Yoga is a practice that often gets overlooked in a world where “doing” is valued far more than “being”. In this lovely practice, you can leave the distractions and stresses of daily life and devote much needed time to restoring your own sense of well-being. Students are situated in simple, comfortable poses on the floor supported with blankets, straps or blocks. This practice is designed to restore the nervous system and help release deeply held tensions from the body and mind. They stay in poses for longer periods of time and allow gravity to create the releases and openings for the body without the effort of “doing”. A wonderful way to wrap up a weekend, or to begin the week with a full well to draw from. Consider adding constructive “down time” to your practice, and amazing things may begin to happen. This class is appropriate for students of all levels.

Thursday 6pm- Yin Flow
Slow Flow is a slower moving Vinyasa class that leads students through a slow flow of sequences creating mindful awareness of the body through alignment and breath. This meditative practice includes longer holds to ignite the body’s internal heat and allow deep release to occur. Students learn to balance strength, flexibility and effort with surrender in each pose.

Thursday 7pm- Power Flow
Power Flow Yoga is a vinyasa-style yoga class that puts together a flowing sequence of yoga poses coordinated with the movements of the breath. Class begins with gentle poses linked by several sun salutations to warm the body and generate internal heat. A progression of postures, such as various Warrior poses, Chair poses and balance poses, are linked together to enhance balance, strength and flexibility. The exercises involve both mental and physical concentration but also allow you to work at whatever level you are in at that moment. Quiet meditation is also incorporated at the beginning and end of the workout leaving you feeling balanced and energized.
