Quickly Lower High Blood Pressure With A Change In Lifestyle

There are 60 million Americans who have high blood pressure or hypertension.  Are you one of them?  If the answer is yes, you probably already know the risks that this condition can bring on.  Heart failure, heart attacks, kidney failure, stroke and blindness are just a few of the potentially lethal events that can be caused if the “Silent Killer” is left untreated.  High blood pressure is a real threat and if you have it, you should start every day with the objective of living your life lowering you blood pressure.

Are you meeting that objective by taking blood pressure medication?  If you are you know that can be pretty miserable as well.  Diuretics, beta blockers, alpha blockers, calcium channel blockers and all the rest can come with some pretty nasty side effects ranging from the annoying to the deadly.  And you’re on these drugs for life.

Take a minute and imagine what it would be like without high blood pressure. Imagine how you would feel waking up and not worrying about a life threatening condition being part of your life. No more drugs. No more feeling exhausted all the time. No more worrying about passing out climbing stairs or even just getting out of your chair too fast.

How would your family feel?

How would your outlook on the future change?

Imagine for a moment that it is a month from today and you visit your doctor and discover your blood pressure reading has dropped 20 points! Is that possible? It can be if you’re willing to work at it.

You’re just one of 60 million people in this battle to lower blood pressure so you certainly aren’t alone. You also aren’t the only one using drugs to control the condition, millions do. However, and this is important if you want to change your life, thousands have lowered their blood pressure to normal BP readings and they have done it quickly and naturally.

Want to know how they do it?

I thought you might.

An ancient Greek philosopher once said “let food be your medicine and medicine be your food.” Basically, what he was saying is your diet is responsible for the health, or lack of health, of your body. Your diet probably played a big part in developing high blood pressure. It can also be the cure. That’s right “cure” not “control”

A high blood pressure diet is really just getting back to basics.  It’s not a fad diet and it’s not nearly as difficult to stick with as some of the weight loss diets.  It’s simply eating foods that are designed to fuel your body with the vitamins and minerals and antioxidants that are required to lower blood pressure and reverse the damage to your blood vessels.  It’s not a weight loss diet, although you probably will lose weight, it is about what you eat not how much you eat.

For example; you are probably on a salt restricted diet right? Did you know that salt is only half the story? Salt and potassium control the fluid levels in our bodies. Without the correct balance of the two our blood vessels can become less elastic and will cause higher pressure by not expanding when the heart pumps. Most Americans have a deficiency in potassium. A high blood pressure diet will call for bananas, a great source of potassium, on a daily basis.

Actually this diet has a name and it’s DASH, the Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension and it is highly endorsed by the American Heart Association.

Once you start eating the right fuel then it’s time to burn some of it off. Mild aerobic exercise like walking or cycling is the absolutely fastest way to lower blood pressure and also helps to lower stress. Thirty minutes a day will work wonders

Speaking of stress, you know that plays a big part in higher blood pressure. Sleep is the number one way to reduce the effects of stress and most of us have a hard time getting six hours a night. But think about it for a second. If we eat healthier and are not consuming the tons of sugar that is in a lot of processed foods; and if we are getting some exercise each day, and if we know that each day brings us closer to a lower blood pressure reading, how much easier will it be to get a full night’s sleep?

You can lower your blood pressure naturally. If you put a plan together and really work it for 30 days you can easily lower your pressure by 20 points. Really think about this for a minute. What would that mean? I think you’ll agree that it means that you are taking control of your bod
